Interview with the Real Barrier Team

During my visits to Seoul, I have a chance to talk to our partners and experts in the k-beauty industry. I find it extremely important to learn as much as possible to start new co-operation in Korea which will result in bringing the best and most innovative products and beauty trends to Europe and provide you with as good advice as possible.

This prompt me to give you the opportunity to learn more from all those amazing people and shed some light on the products you are interested in. Today we reveal our conversation with, Jiyeon, the manager of Real Barrier cosmetics.

History of Real Barrier

How long has it been since you started the company and launched the brand?

NeoPharm was established on July 1, 2000, and Real Barrier was launched on January 1, 2015.

What were your reasons for, approach to, and philosophy on launching cosmetics?

It was improving the quality of life by providing quality products based on our innovative skin science.

What is the most important feature of your cosmetics?

Skin barrier identical formula.

Can you explain it in more details this term and how it impacts skin condition?

The natural skin lipid structure is responsible for protecting the skin against external aggressors while simultaneously sealing in hydration for proper moisture levels. When this lipid structure becomes compromised due to genetics, illness, or external damage, the skin is unable to properly protect and hydrate itself. The result? Dry, sensitive and unhealthy skin. The skin barrier damage is in our opinion the biggest skin concern.

In this case, how do Real Barrier cosmetics tackle this issue?

If you look at our formula under a microscope, you would see a special cross pattern that is identical to the pattern of the natural lipid layer of healthy skin. That’s our patented multi-lamellar emulsion technology (MLE). In other words, this is an ingredient designed to flawlessly mimic healthy skin’s natural lamellar lipid.

How long does it usually take to see the results and benefits of cosmetics?

As their formulas have the most similar structure found in natural healthy skin, our moisturizers create a protective layer as soon as applied without adverse reaction.

Future

In which direction are you going? What are your plans for the next 3-5 years?

We are planning to expand our range for more categories based on our skin barrier technology. We have recently introduced Real Barrier body products and men’s products are planned for launch within this year. As Real Barrier is a brand specially designed for adults, we are going to develop the products that cover from basic skin care to advanced treatment.

What are the new products we can expect? What will be their purpose?

It is an exciting moment for us. There is a lot of going on and we will be launching a lot of new products and lines.

We are expanding our Aqua line. There is already Aqua Soothing Gel and now it is time for Aqua Soothing Toner & Aqua Brightening Mask. This line is created for those looking for skincare products with a weightless texture.

We are also expanding our Cicarelief line. You all know the Cica cream, it is already available at Skinsider. I am very glad to share with you the latest news we are now expanding the line by Cicarelief Gel Cream & Cicarelief Barrier BB to cover all needs of the product line users.

You have already seen Control T line. The skin barrier is important for all skin types and this line was developed for an oily and acne-prone skin.

From brand new launches, there are two: line for men (HOMME) and a lifting line.

Homme line is a simplistic line for men. All-in-one moisturiser for dry and oily skin.

We are launching a lifting line to meet the needs for anti-ageing products which restore firmness. This product line will consist of a Lifting Ampoule, Lifting Eye Cream Lifting Oil Serum and special Lifting Pack.

Your Vision

How do you want customers to remember your brand?

We want to be a number one in skincare products for dry and sensitive skin, which was developed based on its original skin barrier technology.
