Urang S.O.S. Multi Balm – a Review of My New Superbalm

One of my favourite all-time products was…

… Liz Earle Superbalm. It was a great little pot of wonder. Dry lips? Use the balm. Dry skin? Use the balm. Terrible cuticles? Use the balm. I can’t remember a time when I’ve not had a pot of this on the go.

I came to the realisation recently that I’d had my current pot for a bit too long and it probably needed replacing. Sadly when I went to check out the Liz Earle website I found that my beloved Superbalm no longer existed!

After a bit of research, I found they discontinued it due to the inconsistencies in the texture of it. Sometimes it was a little grainy due to the natural ingredients. Over a year later (yes, that’s how old my pot was!) they still haven’t replaced the product so I set about finding an alternative.

Thankfully, at the end of last year, I was introduced to Urang. I actually got very similar vibes to Liz Earle from the brand, with their focus on all-natural ingredients. I was excited to find that they had a balm in their range that looked not too dissimilar to Superbalm.

I said a sad farewell to my little pot of Superbalm and ordered the URANG SOS Multibalm.

As with all Urang packaging, it’s lovely. A nice glass jar with a plastic lid and loads of product inside. I can’t remember how much the Superbalm used to cost but I’d estimate the Urang to be around £5 more expensive, for a lot more product.

In terms of texture, these are similar, but the Superbalm used to take a little more work to get on the fingertips. The Mulltibalm melts into the fingers very easily and quickly.

The scent is also very similar between the two.

I pondered for a while about how to describe it and settled on ‘oily, planty earth’. It’s probably a terrible description, but the best I could come up with! The scent is just so familiar to me now, it’s hard to think of it as anything other than the smell of Superbalm.

Where the Multibalm is a bit thinner I find it doesn’t work as well on lips as Superbalm. Where this has been an amazing saviour though, has been dry patches of skin. I recently had a cold and my nose was the driest and flakiest I think it’s ever been. However, twice daily application of the Multibalm sorted it right out. Because it was a thinner texture it also sunk in nicely and I was able to put makeup on top of it when I went back to work.

This also works excellently as an eye cream.

I’ve really been struggling with dry eyes recently and using this on top of my eye serum has just given a lovely boost to my eye area, without irritating it or affecting makeup application. I could never really use Superbalm under the eyes because I always felt I was dragging the skin trying to transfer to from my fingertips to my face due to the thickness of it.

My only concern with this product is how large the jar is. I’ll never be able to get through all of this before needing to purchase a new one. It’s recommended to use within 6 months of opening and while I have made a dent in it, it won’t even be half gone in 6 months I think.

Despite that, this is the perfect replacement for my Liz Earle Superbalm.

I’m so relieved I managed to find one as looking around other skincare brands, I couldn’t see any that really did this kind of product. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried so far from Urang, and this is no exception. It’s also no surprise, given how much I used to love Liz Earle’s skincare back in the day.
