Masks
When you want to have something in your routine that promotes hydration and helps the skin in a more relaxed manner, you should be using masks.
Skinsider has a range of different mask types, all intending to improve a variety of skin problems.
Whether you are trying to soothe skin after a breakout or want a quick mask solution you can use in the shower, our curated range of Korean skincare masks has you covered.
It is important to know the role a good mask can have as part of your skincare routine and why we stock different types. Not everyone will want to go for sheet masks automatically. Having a mask you can apply in cream or liquid form in specific areas may be better for you. Skinsider is proud to offer a wider range of mask types than other K-Beauty providers. All you need to do is find the mask which works best for you.
Here are some of the important things you need to know for anyone getting to grips with Korean skincare masks.
Are there different types of Korean skincare mask?
Yes, and it helps to understand the differences. This section is where you can find our most popular general use masks. These are products you would either use in the evening are part of your routine, or when you’re in a hurry and need a mask you can use while showering. These are a good place to start if you’re new to masks.
Advancing from that, you have our range of wash-off masks. These would be more in-line with your traditional scrubs with a textured feeling. You would use these and leave on the skin for around 15 minutes before washing off.
Our sleeping masks are overnight cream-based masks you apply before going to bed. Some you would wash off in the shower the next morning. Others absorb in the skin and get to work.
Finally, you have our sheet masks. These are what most people think of when shopping for masks. You would traditionally use a sheet mask as part of the Korean skincare routine after you’ve applied a serum/ampoule and before applying moisturiser. The point of using a sheet mask is to lock in any active ingredients you have used after cleansing.
What brands are known for Korean skincare masks?
Some of the top brands Skinsider users love would include Klairs & Blithe. Klair’s Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask is a top-selling and frequently sells out when we get new stock in. If you’re looking to try it out and see how it helps your skin, we have a 15ml Freshly Juiced product available.
When should I use a Korean skincare mask?
Most people will use a mask when they have some time free to apply one and let it work its magic. In most cases, that would be in the evening as part of a dedicated routine or when you have a half-hour free and want to give your skin some much-needed attention.
Are these products only made for use once?
No. That would be sheet masks you’re thinking of. These are creams and water-based masks you use frequently.
What are the splashing masks I’ve heard about?
Splash masks are typically water-based masks you apply by simply splashing on your face. With something like the Blithe Patting Splash Mask, you take a capful of the solution, splash it on your face and wash off. You would typically use it a few times to get the full effect. It is ideal if you want to use a mask in the shower and generally wouldn’t have the time for a leave-on mask.
Will masks irritate my skin?
Many of the masks on offer aim to address pH balance on the skin. With a lower pH, they typically will not have skin feeling irritated when applied and washed out. If you are prone to irritation using skincare products, we recommend shopping our sensitive skincare range.
