Story of ROVECTIN

Skinsider Team: Thank you for finding time to share with us your amazing story. Tell us more about the history of your company.

Sungsoo Lee: So, our company’s very first products was “ANTI-IRRITANT BARRIER REPAIR ULTRA CREAM” and it was for my sister, her skin was severely damaged from chemotherapy. It’s formulated to tackle the side effects of chemotherapy such as extreme dryness and skin barrier deterioration. Its exclusive formula Rovectin Repair Complex became the most trusted skincare brand among patients, dermatologists and hospitals across Korea. Then we grew into a brand that is simple yet vibrant, focusing on developing high quality skincare products with restorative qualities and safe ingredients.

Skinsider Team: Tell us more about the company’s philosophy.

Sungsoo Lee: “ROVECTIN”, is originated from a Latin word ‘reverti’ which means “to return back to where it was”. We focus on providing the best quality of skincare products with safe ingredients and make customers feel confident and comfortable with their skin. Simple, safe and effective skincare to give clear skin, healthy mind and a strong heart to our customers is our philosophy.

Skinsider Team: What is the purpose of your products?

Sungsoo Lee:All our products are for all skin types including sensitive, dry, oily, combo or even acne-prone skin. All our products are vegan and cruelty free but especially CLEAN line products are formulated to be extra gentle and simple yet, amazingly effective. Aqua Enriched line, which includes many of our best sellers is formulated with 7 types of Hyaluronic Acids to soothe and hydrate to prolong skin’s moisture barrier. If you are struggling from dry and dehydrated skin, this line products will definitely help a lot. Barrier Repair line, strengthens skin barrier and Anti-Irritant line products are recommended for extremely damaged, sensitive skin for intense care. Last but not least, CICA line, so called “the pink cica” is great for soothing and calming irritated and sensitive skin. Cica line products include Calamine and Madecassoside that helps improve breakouts and dark spots.

Skinsider Team: What is important for you when creating a new product?

Sungsoo Lee:Rovectin's motto is "Clean yet Effective", which also serves as a guiding principle for creating each new product. The brand is dedicated to caring for sensitive skin conditions and ensuring high skin tolerability.

Skinsider Team: What do you consider when sourcing ingredients?

Sungsoo Lee:Focusing on safety for both consumers and the environment, Rovectin meticulously formulates products without any potentially harmful ingredients. Furthermore, the brand recognizes the significance of developing effective products that address various skin-related concerns. Therefore, each Rovectin product include ingredients that have unique functionality, enhancing the quality of life for its users.

What ROVECTIN claims as “CLEAN” is to provide clean products for both consumers and the environment.

Skinsider Team: You love to call your products clean. Nowadays, it is a little bit controversial description of the products. When you call your products clean, what do you have in your mind?

Sungsoo Lee:Well, it is true that definition of “CLEAN” is quite controversial nowadays. What ROVECTIN claims as “CLEAN” is to provide clean products for both consumers and the environment. Meaning, to provide products for all skin types including sensitive skin, we strictly exclude any ingredient that potentially irritates skin including inflammatory chemicals, preservatives, and artificial fragrances. Also, all our products are created without any animal derived ingredients, as well as vegan formulas that are not tested on animals. Moreover, we only use recyclable labels, recyclates and boxes printed with soy ink and eco-friendly paper boxes and tapes for sustainable consumption. Lastly, Rovectin team members participate in beach cleansing programs to protect marine ecosystems and we had a special Korean porpoise and part of the profit was donated to Marine animal protection fund.

Skinsider Team: So, let’s exactly talk about science and your quality controls. Can you tell us more about the BARRIER REPAIR COMPLEX™ & ASTA CELL FORTIFIER™ and what are their purposes?

Sungsoo Lee:So our products include our exclusive plant based compound called BARRIER REPAIR COMPLEX™ that acts like a lipid, that is what our skin already has as natural source of moisture. It restores and builds the strength of skin’s natural barrier to keep moisture in. Another formula, is called ASTA CELL FORTIFIER™. It is rich in Astaxantin, which is a natural antioxidant extracted form micro algae. It is 500 times stronger that Vitamin E, and Green tea, 850 times stronger than Coenzyme Q10 and 6,000 times stronger than Vitamin Z. It’s purpose is to neutralize the free radicals on your skin, helping to halt damaging process and rebalance your skin.

Skinsider Team: What are the two products you would recommend from your product line and why? How would you use them during winter and summer?

Sungsoo Lee: I highly recommend Rovectin Lotus Water Cream and Rovectin Activating Treatment Lotion for their exceptional non-irritating and hydrating properties. The Lotus Water Cream is made with 75% lotus water, which effectively soothes the skin. Its light and breathable emulsion is perfect for daily use. On the other hand, the Activating Treatment Lotion contains 7 different sized hyaluronic acids that deeply moisturize both outer and inner layers of the skin. Clinical tests have proven its ability to hydrate deeply into to 12 layers of skin. Its gentle and viscous essence texture is another benefit. Both products are vegan, cruelty-free, and fragrance-free, making them ideal for use throughout the year, regardless of the season.

Plans for future

Skinsider Team: What can we expect next when it comes to new products and solutions offered by your brand?

Sungsoo Lee: We are planning on launching some new products throughout this year. Since we already have products for strengthening skin barrier, hydrating and soothing products, we came up with creating products for brightening care. Also, since our consumer love our “pink cica” products, we will include a cream in this line that could be used every day for all skin types.
