Interview with Purito on Healthy Autumn / Winter Skin

November is Healthy Skin Month during which we will try our best to share with you some skin facts and tips. Recently we caught up with the Purito R&D team to talk about their tips for healthy skin during autumn/winter.

Purito Cosmetics
Karolina: What are your daily beauty tips for the upcoming autumn/winter season?

Purito Team: The first step to healthy skin is hydration. During the colder days, the deep hydration and moisturization of the skin are especially important. One of the great ways to bring your skin care to another level is by adding a face oil to your skincare routine. There are different oils for each skin type, one of the most lightweight oils with anti-inflammatory properties is squalane oil. It is versatile and benefits all skin types. Another popular use of this oil is as a hair mask since it has deep nourishing and moisturizing effects.

Karolina: How does the pH of a product impact the skin during the winter?

Purito Team: The skin is normally pH 5.5 but during winter the skin barrier can get damaged. If the pH goes up the skin will start peeling, becomes thinner and less protective. The cleansers can pull out the skin oils resulting in dehydration, and bring the skin’s pH up high pH 11 to 9. We recommend using a cleanser with a lower pH at about 5.5, and skincare products with ingredients that help protect and strengthen the skin’s barrier.

Karolina: Shorter days are creating tiredness. The majority of us will be working from home for the next few months. What are your tips to tackle dullness and tired skin, especially dark circles?

Purito Team: Tired, dull skin, sensitive areas are the signs of dehydrated skin. It may sound like a cliché but having enough sleep and drinking at least 2 liters of water is crucial for the overall health of your body and skin. Of course, your skincare plays a crucial role. We recommend choosing the product, which helps improve uneven skin tone, diminish dullness, and strengthen a weakened surface of the skin.

Karolina: What are your go-to-ingredients or products for dull winter skin?

Purito Team: One of the great ingredients that can tackle dull skin is Niacinamide. This great ingredient is in the PURITO Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence and PURITO Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence. It can help to improve the overall complexion of your skin.

Karolina: What skin regimens do you recommend for autumn and winter?

Purito Team: During the colder season, our skin is more exposed to dryness, redness, cracking, extra sensitivity, and inflammation. The causes of which include cold temperature, low humidity level, using central heating, and hot water showers.

That’s why it is especially important to focus on extra hydration and moisturization during this period of time.

Karolina: What is your approach then?

Purito Team: A correct autumn skincare routine can help with any summer damage that has occurred and prepare your skin for winter.

To boost the fall and winter skincare routine, we recommend switching to a more gentle and hydrating cleanser. To combat skin dehydration, layer on a nourishing serum, face oil and use a moisturizer to lock it all.

Karolina: Finish the sentence : “The main causes of dryness are…”

Purito Team: The general cause of dryness is a lack of moisture, impaired skin barrier, and deficiency in the necessary healthy oils in the top layer of the skin. The reasons for which are mostly cold weather, heat, low humidity level, hot and showers. Also, over-exfoliating and using alkaline cleanser during your skincare routine can over-dry the skin.

Karolina: How to treat dehydrated and dry skin?

Purito Team: Washing your face too often, and not drinking enough water is one of the main reasons for dehydrated skin. In order to improve the condition of the skin, it’s important to rehydrate, drink enough water, choose a cleanser that has a low acidity level pH 5.5. The third step is using moisturizing creams together with face oils and increasing the humidity in the air by using a humidifier.

Karolina: What are your recommendations and skin rituals for normal to dry skin during the autumn/winter season?

Purito Team: For normal and dry skin we would like to recommend PURITO Centella Green Level Recovery Cream. It soothes and relieves the irritated skin keeping it radiant and healthy.

For dry skin PURITO Deep Sea Pure Water Cream will be effective since it contains natural marine ingredients and sodium hyaluronate to keep the skin hydrated, giving a healthy glow after the first application.

Karolina: How would you treat combination to oily skin during autumn/winter?

Purito Team: As for the combination skin type a great addition to the skincare routine can be PURITO Sea Buckthorn Vital 70 Cream. It contains 70% of the Sea Buckthorn extract, the fruit of the vitamin tree, which helps brighten and visibly smooth skin’s texture. Sea buckthorn fruit contains various vitamins that balance the skin tone giving it a fresh and healthy appearance.

Purito Team: Great news to everyone, who is interested in PURITO. This upcoming winter we are launching the new PURITO squalane oil. Squalane is a great multipurpose ingredient that can be a solution for various skin conditions, such as dehydrated, sensitized, irritated, and dull skin. We are very close to the date, stay tuned until then!

Karolina: That just sounds amazing! We cannot wait to test the product. Thank you for finding the time to talk to us.
